Field Note

We got off to a positive start this year with around 50% of our soybean acres planted before the end of April. We finished the balance of bean planting by May 9.

We experienced a cool, dry spring through most of April and May. The main challenges from this weather pattern have been getting traditional tilled crops to emerge successfully and activating pre-emergence herbicides appropriately.

The rain that came across central Minnesota in late May should give our programs the boost they have been waiting for. We are testing two AMS rates/applications across our farm this year (against a zero rate baseline), and we applied one of the two AMS rates ahead of the rain, so the field trials are off to a successful start!
